The biography of Walt Disney for kids
“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.“
Does this quote sound familiar? Well, it’s from Walt Disney, and I’m going to tell you his story. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, United States.
At the age of 5, he and his family moved to a farm in the state of Missouri. Walt was too young to work, so he started drawing.
He drew so beautifully that a neighbor asked him to draw a picture of his horse.
Four years later, they all moved to Kansas City. His father had a journalism business, and Walt, along with his brother Roy, helped by delivering newspapers every morning.
At the age of 16, Walt wanted to go to war (World War I), but he was rejected due to his age. He insisted and managed to go to France as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross.
Upon his return to the United States, he began working as an illustrator and joined a studio that produced animated advertisements. It was then that he knew what he wanted to do in life: cartoons.
After three unsuccessful ventures with his brother, he finally managed to create one that succeeded, introducing many characters you know, such as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and most notably the first full-color, synchronized sound animated feature film in history: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
It was the beginning of Disney’s great success. Many films followed, and in 1955, he opened the Disneyland amusement park.
He passed away in 1966 after having created one of the most successful companies in history.
